The Devil and The Dark Water – Book Review

“Desperation makes us all stupid from time to time.”

Title – The Devil and the Dark Water

Author – Stuart Turton

Genre – Historical Fiction, Mystery

Publishers –
Bloomsbury India

Review –
It took me a while to get into this book, and when I did – oh boy! I enjoyed it so much. The narration is amazing. I loved the duo of Samuel Pipps and Arent Hayes. One is a prisoner and the another has pledged to save the life of the other. There is so much mystery from the beginning that you are hooked to the book from the beginning. We are introduced to many characters, hence there are multiple POVs in the book.

The author has kept me on my toes – with all the anticipation, and I could not have asked for more. I loved everything about the book. The plot and the characters are everything. I cannot wait to read ‘The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle’.

A Madman announced – Sail abroad the Saardam, and everyone-everything will be ruined. The Cargo is ready to sail, everyone is excited about the journey, but Pipps has a hunch that they might not make it to the destination.
